When Life Seems Overwhelming

Life Can Seem Overwhelming

As women, the matrix of our lives can be complex and difficult to handle.

At times we have so many roles to play, so many hats to wear, so many balls to juggle, and so many persons depending on us that life that seems overwhelming.

Overwhelm Threatens…God To The Rescue

In times like these when overwhelm threatens, one thing I’ve found and that I’m grateful for, is that God in His love, grace and mercy often steps in and places someone or something in my path at just the nick of time that either shifts my perspective, changes my circumstances, or speaks to my spirit so the sense of overwhelm is abated…He is so good!

Has that ever happened to you?

When overwhelm threatens, has God ever stepped in and placed someone or something in your path at just the nick of time and as a result, the sense of overwhelm abated?

Has a person ever “just shown up” in the course of your daily activities and begun a conversation or shared something with you that was exactly what you needed to hear?

Or, have you ever “had an urge” to check WhatsApp, iMessage or another social media platform such as Instagram or Facebook and found that someone had sent you a message or posted something that was applicable to your situation and encouraged you in a meaningful way?

Or, have you ever “randomly” turned on a radio or TV program or pulled up a YouTube video that “happened” to have content that spoke directly into your spirit or situation, shifted your perspective and lightened your load?

That’s happened to me many times…God is good!

My First Line of Defense

When life seems overwhelming, my first line of defense is to turn to God for comfort and direction through prayer and the Word just as He repeatedly invites us to do throughout the Scriptures.

In these times, I’ve found that anchoring myself in the Word and prayer and 1), leaning into the reality that I have a Sovereign Heavenly Father who loves me, watches over me and cares about every aspect of my life and well-being, 2), embracing the love, grace and peace of Jesus, and 3), seeking and following the wisdom and guidance of the Holy Spirit in my situation, has been, and continues to be, the stabilizing force that restores me to my needed place of inner and outer balance, making the journey forward easier.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t do it otherwise.

When life seems overwhelming, God, in His totality, and the Truth found in His Word are my anchor, my breath, my harbor, my stabilizer, my counselor, my guide, my peace, and my way-maker, and for that I am forever grateful…\0/

When life seems overwhelming, I pray that you will too turn to God and in Him find all that you need.

“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

When I think of God and who He is…when I think of the sovereign, eternal, glorious, awesome, wise, powerful, splendid, expansive, gracious, loving, faithful, multifaceted magnificence of His being…and then I think of me…and who I am…it totally blows me away that He would be mindful of and want a relationship with me….who am I?

Push Through To The New

Push Through To The New

This morning when I walked onto my back patio, I saw this green shrub growing up through a crack in the concrete.

When I came inside and reflected on it and these words came to my spirit…

Push Through To The New

“Even as this shrub has pushed through this “impossible” concrete barren place and brought forth green leaves representing new things, in this season, if you determine to push through the “impossible” concrete barren place in your life, you too will bring forth green leaves of new things.”

Move Forward And Push

“Move forward and push. Push and I will help you break through the “impossible” concrete barren place. Push and I will help you penetrate that which has blocked your advancement. Push and I will cause you to break forth and flourish in the very place deemed “impossible” for you. “

Do Not Get Discouraged or Dismayed…Refocus

“Do not be discouraged. Do not be dismayed. Do not let past experiences paralyze you. Forget those things which are behind. Remember them no more. Refocus. Refocus and cast your net again. Refocus and build it again. Re-focus and step forward in faith and push, and as you push, I will make a way through what seems to be immoveable, indestructible, impenetrable barriers and will cause a breakthrough for you.”

Those are the words that came into my spirit as I reflected on the green shrub growing up through a crack in the concrete on my back patio.

They were a rhema word of encouragement for me because I am aware of the “impossible” concrete barren place in my life and am now determined more than ever before to trust God, refocus, and push through.

Do you have a dream, a vision, or a goal that you know at your very core that you need to move forward in, but you’re hesitating because you’ve tried it before and failed, or you’re afraid to try because of seemingly immoveable, indestructible, impenetrable barriers?

If so, be encouraged to trust God, refocus, and by His grace push through believing to see Him cause a breakthrough for you to His honor and glory.

God Will Make A Way

Life Got Busy

“We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.”

– Proverbs 16:9 NLT –

When I started Unwalled Words my intention was to write and post a minimum of once per week.

Things started out okay…then in June, life got busy.

Life Got Busy

Notice I did not say that I got busy…I said then in June, life got busy.

And, what do I mean by life got busy?

What I mean is that a cascade of extraordinary circumstances and difficult situations happened to people close to me and these persons reached out to me for support and help in various ways…it was like the old adage, “when it rains, it pours”.

As each situation presented itself, I knew within my spirit that I needed to help, and as such had no inherent problem doing so, but it did not come without a price.

The Price When Life Gets Busy

What was the price?

Helping them cost me lots of time, energy (mental, emotional, spiritual and physical), and focus, and this in turn, and most significantly, cost me the laying aside of the pursuit of some key personal goals and plans.

You may think, “So, what’s the big deal with that?…it happens to me lots of times…you sound selfish”.

And you’re right… on the surface.

It’s normally not a big deal for me to help in this way, in fact, as a person called to help others, it’s something that’s quite common in my life, but in this instance, what was different was the timing.

You see, at the beginning of the year, God told me that it’s time to re-build and pursue certain goals and plans that He had previously instructed me to place on hold, and I’ve steadily worked in that regard, but as June approached, I sensed an urgency in my spirit to bear down and push harder because an extra grace to move things forward would be present during the month.

This was confirmed when my pastor announced that the theme for the month of June was, “We’ve Got to Make a Move” and shared with us that He believed that God was saying that it was time to lay aside all previous hinderances and procrastination and move forward in the things that He has been speaking to us about both corporately and individually and as such, we need to make a move.

That confirmation placed a sense of urgency in me, and just as I was about to focusedly barrel down and push forward…life got busy.

Something Came Up Each Day

Each day, seemingly out of nowhere, something inevitably arose that necessitated my attention in some way resulting in the laying aside of what I’d purposed to do relative to pursuing my goals and plans.

Has that ever happened to you?

Has life ever gotten busy for you…at the “wrong” time?

Have you ever been in a season where there’s an urgency in your spirit to really push forward and focus on certain goals and plans and just as you are about to thrust forward, life got busy and unanticipated demands were placed on you that necessitated a shift away from your intended focus onto the needs of others, and you found yourself getting everywhere with everyone else’s plans, but nowhere with your own?

As the days passed, on one hand I felt good in my spirit because I believe the Lord wanted me available to help as I did and I could see Him at work in the various situations, but on the other hand, I felt frustration threatening to brew inside because June, the month of divine acceleration to move forward with my goals and plans, was quickly running out and my progress in that regard was zero.

Frustration Arose

One morning last week, frustration was no longer a threat, but had become a reality, so I began to talk with the Lord about what was transpiring.

Not far in, He reminded me of a powerful reality that I knew, but embarrassingly had allowed circumstances to cloud.

The essence of what He said was:

Do you not make yourself available to Me and ask Me to order your steps each day?…And do you not place everything including your plans before Me each morning and ask that My will be done?

Yes Lord.

So, what’s the problem?

Why are you frustrated?

Have I not answered your prayers?

He was right.

What was the problem?

Why was I frustrated?

In light of my prayers, and the fact that God is God and He knows best, there was no real reason at all.

God’s Manifested Will Trumps All

Since I’d already asked the Lord to order my steps each day and had committed everything including my plans to Him each morning, and asked for His will to be done, by faith I needed to accept that each of the extraordinary situations and circumstances that arose where others needed my help and I could sense the Lord wanting me to help, were a part of His manifested will, and as such submitting to the same was more important than sticking to previously authorized and approved plans so there was no problem nor need for frustration.

With that simple shift in perspective and alignment with spiritual reality, my frustration evaporated.

Instead of seeing June as a frustrating, “wasted” month because of a lack of progress in my goals and plans, I saw it as a month of service to others and faithful submission to the Lord’s manifested will.

When life gets busy, as we submit to God’s manifested will, what a difference a shift in perspective and alignment with spiritual reality can make!

And, not only that, because of my pliable posture and obedience to His will, the Lord has promised to redeem the divine acceleration what I “missed” in June…what a blessing!

Today if you find yourself in a similar season and/or situation to the one I was in, I pray that this post is a source of encouragement and help that leads to spiritual alignment, breakthrough and peace for you.

POST MOTHER’S DAY ENCOURAGEMENT

POST MOTHER’S DAY ENCOURAGEMENT

Sunday past was Mother’s Day.

For many mothers…What excitement! What celebration! What fanfare! What fun!…but, not for all.

Don’t be deceived…All that glitters on Mother’s Day is not gold.

If you could peek behind the smiles of some mothers, you’d get a far different picture than what was outwardly displayed.

Behind The Smiles

Here’s what was found behind some of the smiles.

Stretched…

“I feel so stretched. I can’t juggle another plate or I’ll drop them all. I wear so many hats that one more will send me over the edge. I play so many roles I don’t even know who I am anymore. Honestly, I feel like I just want out of this mother-thing.”

Overwhelmed…

“Truthfully, I am overwhelmed by the responsibility that I carry in my household, almost to a breaking point. I am not made to bear the weight that I do, but I have to because my husband refuses to step up and do the things he knows he ought to do as a father”.

Helpless…

“I feel helpless and bound. I saw my mother walk down a crazy path when raising me and my siblings and I vowed not to walk that same kind of path with my kids yet I find myself there. It’s like I’m experiencing a nightmare and can’t wake up.”

Empty…

“At this point I’m running on empty and just going through the motions of carrying out my motherly duties. My heart is not in it at all. I don’t like being like this, but I just can’t help myself because I am so, so tired. I feel like I’m on the verge of collapse physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I am simply tired, worn-out, and weary.”

Trapped…

“As a single mother I feel trapped in my situation. If I step back and release some things, everything will fall apart, but if I don’t step back and release some things, I will fall apart. I don’t know what to do. I’m in a raging battle and weariness is taking its toll.”

Angry…

“Excuse my expression but right now I am pissed! I am so angry at the ungrateful attitude of my children and the lack of support from their fathers that I feel like I’m about to explode………only the restraining power of the Holy Spirit is keeping me in check, and I don’t know how long that will last!”

Disappointed…

“I am disappointed! I’m disappointed with myself for having so many children. Oh how I despise myself for this! Not only do I despise myself for having the number of children I have, I despise them and their father. I know this is not right but it is where I am at; at least I’m being real”

Although showered with accolades, gifts and kind words, on Mother’s Day, deep down inside some mothers were tired, frustrated, hurting, depressed and even angry.

What About You?

What about you?

What were you saying inside about your situation on Mother’s Day?

What are you saying now?

Are you, like so many women, caught in a maternal dilemma, loving and wanting what’s best for your children but weakened, wearied and frustrated by your situation and circumstances?

If so, the Spirit of the Lord has a word for you.

God’s Word To You

God’s Word to you is, “Be Strong”.

Be strong?

Yes, “Be Strong”.

You say“How can I be strong Lord when I have little or nothing left in me? How can I be strong when I am barely making it now? How can I be strong when support is constantly a struggle? How can I be strong when resources are low and sometimes barely there?”

He says, “Be strong in Me not in yourself. Be strong in Me and in the power of My might for it is not by your might, nor by your power, but by My Spirit that you shall overcome. My strength is made perfect in your weakness so come to Me afresh and anew; extend your faith I will strengthen and help you.”

Whatever you are dealing with as a mother, the Word from the Lord to you today is, “Be Strong”.

Whether married with children or a single mother, the Spirit of God knows and understands your situation and desires to impart new strength to you.

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” – Isaiah 40:29 – NIV

Will you let Him do it?

If yes, as an act of faith, raise your hands and say, “Lord, I receive Your strength right now in Jesus’ Name.”

Now believe you have received an impartation of His strength.

Thank Him for His strength.

Declare into the atmosphere, “Lord You are my strength!”

THE LORD IS YOUR STRENGTH

Mothers, no matter your situation, make a mindful and intentional decision to lean in and depend on the strength of the Lord that is within you and trust Him to help you, knowing that He will.

“But you, Lord, do not be far from me. You are my strength; come quickly to help me.” – Psalm 22:19 – NIV

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.” – Psalm 28:7 – NIV

“The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.” – Habakkuk 3:16 – NIV

“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being…” – Ephesians 3:19 – NIV

You Are Power-Full

You Are Power-Full

Jesus Arose From the Dead

Sunday past was Resurrection Sunday, a day when Believers worldwide celebrated the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Jesus died but His life was not taken from Him. He willingly laid it down and paid the price to redeem you, me and all mankind. (John 10:17-18)

The vice-like grip of the icy tentacles of death clutched Him, and desperately sought to hold Him…but they could not.

Three days after His agonizing death by crucifixion, Jesus arose from the dead just as He said, victoriously defeating death, hell, and the grave.

His resurrection was the greatest feat in the history of mankind!

What authority! What power!

Christ’s Resurrection Power Lies in You

According to the Word of God, that same mighty, incomprehensible, unfathomable power that raised Christ from the dead is within you and within me. (Romans 8:11; Ephesians 1:18-21; Ephesians 3:20-21)

“And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”

(Romans 8:11 – NIV)

“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.”

(Ephesians 1:18-21 – NIV)

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”

(Ephesians 3:20-21 – NIV)

That same mighty, incomprehensible, unfathomable power that raised Christ from the dead is within you and within me.

The exact same power? …Yes, the exact same power, and because that power resides in us, we are power-full.

As Believers in Christ, we are filled with the resurrection power of God. It is within us to help us be and do all that He requires of us and to enable us to live a victorious life while on earth.

God knows this, the enemy knows this, but do you know it?

Do you really know it?

Do you know it as an unshakeable spiritual reality that is an integral part of your life, or do you just know it intellectually, on the level of mental assent?

The Enemy Wants to Hide This Truth

One of the greatest strategies the enemy uses to defeat Believers, especially women, is to try to hide the truth from us that the power of God dwells in us and is available to help us anytime, anywhere in any situation. He instead tries to get us to believe the lie that we are weak, helpless, and powerless victims of our circumstances.

The truth is that we are filled with the resurrection power of God and it enables us to be more than conquerors in every situation for greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world…the work is to believe!

I pray that the Truth of the Word concerning the resurrection power of Christ in you becomes more real to you than ever before and that you purpose to no longer see yourself as power-less, but as power-full.

I pray that you ask God to progressively reveal the truth of His power in you and to teach you how to access it, activate it and manifest it for His honor and glory.

I pray that there’s such a deep, seismic paradigm shift within your spirit concerning the power of God in you that Ephesians 4:13 becomes your declared and manifested confession everyday.

“I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]”

(Ephesians 4:13 – AMP) 

You are Power-Full!

Woman of God, you are power-full because the same power that raised Christ from the dead resides in you and is available to you.

From this day forth, believe it, receive it and walk in it!

The Journey Begins

The Journey Begins

Good morning,

Welcome to Unwalled Words!

The Journey

As women of God, I believe that when we hunger and thirst after God, after His essence, His presence, His being,

That when we hunger and thirst after His character being formed in us, His righteousness radiating from us, His will being done in and through us,

That when we invest time in His Word and prayer and incline our hearts to hear and obey His voice,

That when we seek to progressively discover and embrace who He is, His purposes, His principles and His plans,

That when we in essence say “yes” to Him in His entirety,

We position ourselves for incredible transformation and for the manifestation of His glory in our lives.

I believe it’s a time-tagged process, a magnificent unpredictable journey that begins with a “yes” and requires many subsequent yeses, sometimes difficult ones, but ends in priceless fulfillment and completion in His way and His time.
